Sigma Tau Delta, the English honor society, hosted a lovely event featuring some of Southern's finest professors. The professors included in this panel were Rachel Furey, Melissa Talhelm, Steve Larocco, and Tony Rosso. The panel was set up like a Q&A. Students were able to ask the professors questions on varying topics. Topics included the path that led these professors to becoming professors, the path that led them to Southern, life as a southern professor, and their life outside the classroom. The event was a success and had a large turn out. It was nice for students to be able to spend time with professors outside of the classroom. Our professors are very influential in our academic journey, and being able to hear about their journeys is inspiring for students. The tea and scones were definitely a plus, but overall the event was informative, fun, and intimate. Students get to be on a different level with their professors, reminding them they are people outside of the classroom who went through what we are all going through.
